Pat Rabbitte 'libel' costs Irish broadcaster RTE ¿100,000 after Garda is 'offended' by radio remark | Mail Online: The controversial leaking of the Birmingham Report into Garda handling of the Dean Lyons affair – where an "innocent" but mentally impaired man confessed to a terrible double murder he could not have committed but was jailed anyway. During the interview, Mr Rabbitte questioned Garda conduct in the case and the treatment of Mr Lyons. Detective Bailey was one of the gardaí who had questioned Mr Lyon’s confession – and had rightly challenged the possibility that he could be the killer.?
