Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs - February: "The social economy or 'third sector' is a relatively new concept in Ireland and can be broadly defined as :
'that part of the economy, between the private and public sectors, which engages in economic activity in order to meet social objectives'- in other words, enterprises which engage in economic activity to meet social objectives but don't fit neatly into the public or private sectors as we know them"?
