Department of Finance tried to silence a prominent independent economist: "Just a few minutes ago on Marian Fnucane Jim Power stated that he was threatened by the Dept of Finance to 'shut up' (and there is presumably an underlying 'or else' in there as well) after comments he made during the week about the likelihood of Ireland defaulting on its sovereign debt. He stated that the threat was made indirectly which I take to mean it came through a third party"?
